Contest Rules | Frequently Asked Questions

RULES 

WHO MAY ENTER: Anyone that can use a camera except employees of Nielsen and their families.

ENTERING THE CONTEST
Photographers may submit images for consideration. An entry consists of a single image. Individuals may pay to enter an unlimited amount of times.

ENTRY FEES: $10 per amateur entry/$15 per professional. Submissions received after 12/15/07 will be subject to an additional late fee of $5 (through extended deadline period ending 1/15/08).

AMATEUR OR PROFESSIONAL ENTRY
Enter professional if you make 50% of annual income from photography or the photo or photographer is being represented by an agency (stock or rep agency). In addition, images that have been used in an advertising campaign may not be submitted in the Amateur section of this contest.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

ONLINE SUBMISSIONS ONLY: To enter your submissions electronically, please visit www.goindiecontest.com and register. Once the registration process has been completed, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. Simply log in to the GO INDIE contest Site, and follow the online instructions to upload images from your computer. Images formatted as a JPEG measuring at least 1,000 pixels on its long dimension are preferred. Images may be color profiled in sRGB, Adobe-1998 or not color-managed.

SPECIFICATIONS: To qualify, photographs must be taken between January 1, 2007 and December 1, 2008.

JUDGING: Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality and effectiveness in expressing the contest theme. Winners will be published in the 2008 issue of the PDN Stock Guide and exhibited at the "GO INDIE" website.

CONSENT AGREEMENT: Submitted materials will not be returned. IPN stock is not responsible for the loss or damage of any entry. Submission of an entry to the contest automatically constitutes the contestant's contestant's acceptance of all conditions set forth in the above rules. It also acknowledges the right of IPN stock and Photo District News to use the entry for publication; PDNonline.com and in exhibitions and promotions related to the IPN stock contest up to 12 months following the contest.

Entries not complying with the rules set forth above will be disqualified.

IPN Stock is solely responsible for theadministration of the contest, and sponsors are in no way affiliated with the contest or liable for any matters arising due to the contest.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 

What is an entry?
An entry consists of one image. Each individual amateur entry costs $10; each professional entry costs $15.

Is there a limit to the number of photos or categories that I can enter?
No, you may enter as many photographs and categories as you like. We suggest no more than 20 images.  

Will there be a prizewinner in each category?
Yes, PDN will award a prize in every category, and select a Grand prizewinner from all Category winners.

Can I enter if I live outside of the U.S.?
Definitely.

Will my images be sold on IPNstock?
Images submitted for the GoIndie Photo contest are owned by the photographers submitting and no copyright is transferred. Images will not be sold or represented by IPNstock. The images may be displayed if selected as a winner and for the purposes of judging or representing the image as an entry associated with this website.

When will the winners be announced?
We will contact all winners in January 2008. We will publish the winning entries on GOINDIEContest.com, and also feature the work in the 2008 Stock Photo Guide. Please do not call us regarding the status of your entry; if you are selected, we will contact you in late January.
